Molly Jo Burke - Roy Alum 2010
I am always happy to support ROY. I exhibited with ROY in 2010 back when the gallery was in the Short North. I later served on the board and as board president. I am currently a practicing artist, I live in Cincinnati, but I teach at OSU for a couple of courses. I collaborate frequently with another former ROY artist, Nathan Gorgen, who happens to also be my husband.
ROY really serves a need for artists to get through a juried selection process and to create new art. The community needs a space that allows artists to explore and do something new. Artists need a deadline and a space to create something experimental. And having that line on your resume as an exhibiting artist is really helpful.
Moving forward, I wonder if the Gallery could do more to help the exhibiting artists create professional documentation of their work and their show.
