ROY is an idea that took form 36 year ago …

  • An idea that Columbus wanted to create opportunities to foster emerging artists

  • An idea that Columbus needed a place for our growing community of artists and to welcome a curious community of arts patrons and consumers.

  • Over the past 36 years the ROY G Biv Gallery has created exhibiting opportunities for over 1,000 emerging artists.

  • ROY is more than a successful nonprofit gallery, ROY is the cultural fabric of our community. WE are ROY when we support ROY G BIV Gallery.

Who Is ROY?

  • Many ROY Alumni have now developed successful careers in the arts and sustain the culture of our community.

  • ROY Alumni have gone on to exhibit worldwide at over 200 major venues across 6 continents.

  • ROY Alumni have work in permanent collections at major institutions like The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Whitney, and MoMA PS1, NY – the Louvre, Paris –Getty Museum, LA – Tate Modern, London and here in central Ohio at the Columbus Museum of Art and Wexner Center for the Arts.

  • ROY Alumni display their work in the homes of our neighbors and the businesses of arts patrons across central Ohio.

  • ROY Alumni hold 64 major awards (that we know of), including 2 Guggenheim Fellows and 3 Skowhegan Alumni.

  • ROY Alumni are college professors and high school and elementary school teachers.

  • ROY Alumni are Creative Art directors in Corporate America and operate small businesses and studios across Ohio and the nation.

  • ROY is now proof that Columbus will sustain a thriving nonprofit gallery to foster more emerging artists.

When WE give

  • Each Year, 150 to 200 emerging artists respond to ROY’s call for entry to a juried selection process and the opportunity to show their work at ROY G BIV Gallery in Franklinton.

  • Each year 30 to 40 artists are awarded the opportunity to exhibit their work for at the Gallery in Franklinton.

  • ROY is an opportunity for emerging artists to continue to pursue and explore their careers.

  • ROY is a community of artists, art patrons, volunteers, donors, and interns.
