CALL FOR ENTRIES
Deadline: Sept 25, 2026 by 11:59 PM
ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists invites art submissions for its 2027 exhibition season
ROY’s regular exhibition calendar is organized from an annual juried process that begins with a call for entries (CFE), asking emerging artists to submit their work for consideration. The CFE submission pool is reviewed and voted upon by a panel of jurors representing the contemporary arts community.
We welcome submissions from artists both local and global. Selected artists will be featured in a month-long small group exhibition during the 2027 calendar year, curated by the gallery director.
ROY defines emerging artists as those that:
➜ Are early in their careers
➜ Have a focused direction and goals while developing their artistic voice
➜ Have yet to be substantially celebrated within their field, the media, funding circles, or the public at large
➜ Are not represented by a gallery
➜ Have not exhibited at ROY (with the exception of ImageOHIO and the annual smallworks member show)
ROY’s highest priority is to support artists early in their careers and celebrate work that is:
➜ Deeply considered and intentional, providing artistic experiences that communicate unique perspectives
➜ Executed with attention to craft and with technical proficiency
➜ Inviting viewers to question, discover, and explore new ideas
➜ Innovative and risk-takingーengaging, questioning, challenging, or re-imagining conventional artistic forms
These qualities reflect our interest in supporting diverse artists who are expanding ways of working, asking questions, and inspiring new ways of imagining.

Meet the Jurors
Yusef Ferguson is an American filmmaker, visual artist, educator, and learner. Yusef is a recipient of the 2025 Greater Columbus Arts Council Visual Arts Fellowship. As a part of the fellowship, his installation titled "in a barrel, ButYouDontWannaDie" is being exhibited at the Columbus Museum of Art in the Mary and Bob Kidder Gallery through September 2026. In 2024, Yusef received the Tina Perry and Rick Whitney Grant for his upcoming project, "Sanguine". He was a member of the 2023 inaugural Netflix Documentary Archival Research Training Program and a 2023 Princess Grace Award Finalist. Other recent exhibitions include The Broadwater in Hollywood, California, the California Institute of the Arts, and the William Roland Gallery at California Lutheran University. In 2021, he worked as the cinematographer for the Atlanta edition of the KQED Production "If Cities Could Dance", which later won a Southeast Emmy that year for Best Short Form Content. Yusef earned his Master’s of Fine Arts in the Film and Video Program at the California Institute of the Arts and his Bachelor’s of the Arts in Film with a Minor in Psychology from Georgia State University. He is currently working as an AICAD Fellow teaching in the Film Department at Columbus College of Art and Design.
Dana Lynn Harper (she/her) holds a BFA in Art & Technology from The Ohio State University and an MFA in Sculpture from Penn State University, where she was awarded the Bunton Waller Fellowship. Her work explores the complexities of racial identity and the role of materiality in restoring connections to cultural heritage. Drawing inspiration from Catholic candelabras, altars, and sacred architecture, her sculptures take shape as ritualistic votive offerings, merging familial legacy with spiritual regality. Activated by ritual gestures; lighting candles, placing fresh flowers or filling vessels with offerings, she creates a living site of ceremony and collective remembrance.
