Dan Solberg - Roy Alum 2012
My exhibition at ROY G BIV in 2012 alongside Jacob Tonski was one of my favorites because of the freedom I was afforded in the process early in my career. I was living in Washington, DC at the time, and it was the first time I'd been in a remote show where I wasn't just sending one piece off through the mail. Instead, I developed a new body of work across several different media, had various components shipped to the gallery ahead of my arrival, and eventually travelled to Columbus to install everything the day before the opening. I was given the opportunity to present brand new work, and to this day, I still use the photos I took of those pieces in ROY as the default images for those works in my portfolio. I have very fond memories of that time!
