Become an Intern
ROY G BIV is looking for INTERNS! We are seeking creative, motivated, curious individuals to intern in the gallery. The ideal candidate will have an interest in non-profit organizations, a commitment to the arts and must be aligned with Roy’s mission. Internships are unpaid. Interns will work closely with the gallery director, gallery assistant, and each other to enhance Roy’s service to emerging artists.
We are currently looking for candidates interested in the listing(s) below:
Marketing & Communications Internship
Manage Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts, including coordinating artist ‘takeovers’, implementing a consistent posting schedule, and responding to DMs and comments
Manage outward facing communications (emails, announcements, Call For Entries, etc)
Maintain and update the ROY G BIV Squarespace website
Research social media best practices and maintain industry standards
Work with ROY G BIV Board on marketing and communication initiatives and promotional materials
Attend public programs to gather content for social media pages
Prior experience preferred
Art Handling & Exhibitions Internship
Assist artists with the installation and deinstallation of artwork each month
Learn the ins and outs of art preparation and exhibition work
Assist Executive Gallery Director and Artists with exhibition design and object placement
Implement in-gallery materials with Executive Gallery Director (object checklists and publications)
Conduct condition reporting on artwork coming in and out of the building
Develop skills working directly with professional artists
Prior experience with power tools required. Prior art-handling experience nor required.
*Responsibilities include but are not limited to the above lists. These categories are not exclusive, interns may have duties outside of their chosen category.
