Phillip Scarpone exhibits his installation Della Pareti: Of the Walls. The work is influenced by the interior and spatial relationships of a specific building in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He uses the impressions, castings and various material similarities of the building to create a cluster of fabricated barriers and dividers. The work is the continuation of Scarpone’s interest in manifesting the psychological relationships one might have with a particular space and how transposing it into a different context creates new meaning.
Scarpone received his MFA from the University of Georgia and his BFA from the University of Delaware. He has exhibited throughout the U.S., including Washington, DC; New York, NY; Austin, TX; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; St. Louis, MO and Baltimore, MD. Phillip is represented by Seraphin Gallery (Philadelphia, PA) and recently relocated to Pittsburgh, PA, where he works for Carnegie Mellon University, School of Art.
