Jonathon Engelian: Apocalyptic Nostalgia
Apocalyptic Nostalgia includes prints and sculptures that imagine a post-apocalyptic Midwestern landscape. The work depicts a new stone age, where bands of people rediscover artifacts from the digital age. Engelian creates this future landscape to force a reexamination of our contemporary moment in the twenty-first century, which oscillates between uncertainty for the future of the environment and longing for the return of the wild.
Jonathon Engelian (b. 1992) is an interdisciplinary artist who grew up in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and now lives and works in St. Paul, MN. He holds a BFA from Bethel University.
